Independent SARS refund guide
SARS USSD Refund Status
SARS lists USSD as one of its mobile self-service routes and its refund-status guidance includes a USSD refund-status option. Dial only the official SARS-published code and follow the official menu.

Use the SARS-published USSD route only
USSD is useful because it can work on many basic phones and does not require a smartphone app. It is also risky to search casually, because copied code lists can be outdated or fake.
SARS refund-status guidance includes a USSD option for refund status, and the SARS mobile-services page describes USSD self-service menus. Use only the code and menu published by SARS. This independent site deliberately does not create its own USSD shortcut or status checker.
Safe USSD checklist
- Open the official SARS source page first.
- Confirm the current SARS USSD code and refund-status menu option.
- Dial the code yourself; do not tap a code from an unknown message.
- Enter personal details only if you are sure the route is the official SARS route.
- Stop if the menu or message does not match SARS guidance.
What USSD can help with
USSD can point you toward certain personal income tax services and status information. For a refund, it may help you check a status without eFiling or a smartphone app. It does not make the refund faster, and it does not remove verification, audit, debt, or banking-detail checks.
If the result is unclear, use another official SARS channel such as eFiling, SARS MobiApp, SARS WhatsApp, or SARS contact guidance.
Scam and privacy warning
Because USSD uses short codes, fake guidance can look convincing. Be careful of messages that tell you to dial a different code for a refund release, or that ask you to send bank details by SMS after using USSD.
This site does not collect any of the information that an official SARS route may use to authenticate you.
